Chiropractic, Active Release, IMS/Dry Needling, Orthotics
Chiropractic care is a natural form of health care that focuses on maximizing the integrity of both the nervous system and musculoskeletal system through a hands-on approach. If there is irritation to the nerves or a fixation in the joints you may experience pain and decreased range of motion. A Chiropractic adjustment serves to restore functional movement in the joints, remove nerve impingement and restore muscle balance.
Active Release Technique (ART), is a specialized soft tissue technique that involves identifying muscle and fascial tension and mobilizing them with a combination of pressure and patient movement. It is commonly used to treat repetitive strain injuries, sports injuries and other conditions that result in soft tissue damage and pain.
Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) or Dry Needling Dry needling is a medical treatment use for pain and movement issues associated with myofascial trigger points. With this approach, a certified provider inserts thin needles into or near your trigger points. The needles stimulate your muscles, which causes them to contract or twitch. It helps to release tight and painful muscles, increase blood flow and pain relieving hormones.
Custom made orthotics can be helpful to correct biomechanical imbalance, provide cushioning & support, and for postural corrections. An assessment and scan are done on this visit. Typically your insurance will require a medical doctor's prescription for reimbursement. We will provide lab report, biomechanical assessment and invoice. Direct billing IS NOT available for orthotics.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture, an ancient technique, involves precise placement of tiny needles on specific points of your body to stimulate Qi energy flow along meridians. By correcting energy imbalances, acupuncture at Lumina Therapy promotes internal harmony and accelerates healing.
Our clinic offers personalised acupuncture treatments tailored to your unique needs. Our certified acupuncturists thoroughly assess your concerns and goals to create a customized treatment plan. By targeting the root cause of symptoms, we aim for lasting improvements in your overall health.
Beyond physical benefits, acupuncture enhances mental and emotional well-being. Clients often experience deep relaxation and tranquility during sessions, thanks to the release of endorphins—natural pain relievers and mood enhancers. You'll leave feeling not only physically revitalized but also with a renewed sense of inner peace and equilibrium.
Athletic Therapy
Athletic Therapists specialize in treating acute and chronic injuries to your muscles, bones, and joints. They are best known in the field setting as the first to respond and provide care to an injured athlete. Upon resolution or healing of the injury, ATs guide the athlete safely back to return to full participation in sport. In the clinic setting, ATs collaborate with Sport Medicine Physicians to diagnose and treat acute and overuse injuries.
Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy is a manual technique using hands to apply pressure and sensory input to the soft tissues of the body.
Your first visit begins a detailed history and assessment by your massage therapist to ensure you are provided with the most appropriate and effective treatment modalities. All subsequent treatments will follow your treatment plan and may include a variety of treatment modalities as discussed with you and your therapist. These may include, deep tissue, Swedish massage, visceral or more depending on your therapist. If you have a complex history or would like multiple areas addressed you may want to consider booking a 90 min treatment.
